Maddy Cope: Climbing the unknown in Mongolia

At the start of May, Madeleine Cope, together with friend and climbing partner, Hazel Findlay headed off to east Asia. Mongolia isn’t a traditional climbing scene; it doesn’t have a long history of climbing so there is lot of unclimbed rock – but you have to search for it!

If there’s anything Madeleine has learnt from her trip it’s the logistics involved in finding climbs in a relatively unclimbed-country.

“We were stepping out of the box. Going somewhere with a blank slate.”
